Estate Administration

Probate, handled with care.

Losing someone you love is hard enough. Applying for the grant of probate and administering their estate shouldn't add to the burden — we take care of the paperwork, step by step. One fixed fee, agreed before we begin: based on the work involved, never a percentage of the estate.

What we handle

Every step of estate administration, in trusted hands

Applying for the grant of probate

We prepare and submit the probate application, sworn statement of truth and estate accounts — so you don't have to navigate the court system alone.

HMRC inheritance tax forms

We complete the inheritance tax account, calculate what is due, apply available reliefs and handle payment from estate funds where appropriate.

Collecting and valuing assets

Bank accounts, pensions, property, investments and business interests — we identify, value and gather every asset in the estate.

Settling debts and expenses

We settle outstanding liabilities, household bills and estate expenses in the correct order, protecting executors from personal risk.

Distributing the estate

We distribute what remains to beneficiaries in line with the will — or the rules of intestacy where there is no will — with clear records throughout.

Final estate accounts

Every executor receives a full, transparent set of estate accounts showing exactly what came in, what went out and what was distributed.

How it works

Simple. Considered. Built around you.

1

A first conversation

Tell us about the estate — the will, the assets, the family situation. We explain what is needed and what happens next, in plain English.

2

We handle the paperwork

From the probate application to the HMRC inheritance tax account, we prepare everything and keep you informed at every stage.

3

Grant obtained, estate settled

Once the grant is issued, we collect the assets, settle liabilities and distribute the estate — closing with complete final accounts.

Our fee

One fixed fee — based on the work, never the wealth

Fixed, not a percentage

Our estate administration fee is fixed upfront. It is built on the complexity of the work involved — the number of assets, the paperwork, the people involved — not on the value of the estate. A £200,000 estate and a £2 million estate with the same complexity pay the same fee.

Agreed before we begin

We quote the fixed fee at your first conversation, confirm it in writing before any chargeable work starts, and it does not change unless the scope of the work itself changes — which we would always agree with you first.

Percentage-based charges punish families for the size of their inheritance. A fixed fee means what you pay reflects the work we do — nothing more.

Why executors choose us

Executors carry a personal responsibility. We carry it with you.

Being named an executor is an honour — and a legal duty. Miss a deadline, overlook an asset or pay a beneficiary too early, and the responsibility falls on you personally.

With Designer Legacy, every form, valuation and distribution is handled correctly and documented clearly — so you can focus on your family, not the paperwork.

A few details help us gauge how complex the work will be, so we can quote your fixed fee. The fee is agreed with you in writing before any work begins.

About the estate

This only tells us which HMRC forms apply — it does not affect your fee.

Does the estate include any of these?
How your fee is set: we use these details to understand the complexity of the work — not the value of the estate. We'll quote one fixed fee and agree it with you in writing before any work begins. Sending this enquiry commits you to nothing.
